This Privacy Policy explains how Contact Your Rep (“we,” “us,” “our”) handles information in connection with https://www.contactyourrep.com/ (the “Site”) and our tools and services (the “Services”).
1) Quick Summary (Plain English)
- We built Contact Your Rep to help people find and contact representatives.
- We do not require accounts to use core tools.
- We strive to minimize data collection.
- Some information is still processed automatically when you use any website (for example, basic server logs), and donation checkout is handled by a third-party provider.
2) U.S.-Only Availability
This Site and Services are intended for users located in the United States. We may restrict or block access from outside the U.S. to maintain data accuracy, comply with U.S.-specific requirements, and reduce security risks.
3) Information We Collect
A) Information you provide
- Messages and template text: If the Services allow you to generate or draft messages, you may input text. Our intent is not to store message content beyond what is necessary to provide the tool at the moment you use it. (If we add features that store drafts/history later, we will update this policy.)
- Support emails: If you contact us (e.g., at support@contactyourrep.com), we receive the information you include in your message (such as your email address and the contents of your request).
B) Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our servers (and/or our hosting providers) may automatically process:
- Device and network information such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, and referring URLs;
- Usage information such as pages viewed and approximate timestamps;
- Security information used to protect the Site from abuse.
If we enable analytics or advertising (for example, Google Analytics 4 or Google AdSense), those providers may also process information such as device identifiers, cookie IDs, and usage events as described in their policies.
We also use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate usage of the Site. Vercel may process limited device and usage information in accordance with its privacy policy.
C) Donation-related information (third-party)
If you choose to donate, the donation checkout is handled by a third-party payment/checkout provider. We do not control how that provider processes personal or payment information. Please review the provider’s privacy policy on the checkout page you use.
4) Cookies and Similar Technologies
We may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for the Site to function and to maintain security. If we enable optional analytics or advertising technologies, we will provide any required choices or opt-outs and update this policy.
- Essential: required to deliver the Site and protect against abuse.
- Analytics (optional): help us understand usage and improve performance when enabled.
- Advertising (optional): if used in the future, may support outreach or growth and would be disclosed here.
Google services: If we use Google Analytics 4 or Google AdSense, Google may set or read cookies and collect information as described in Google’s policies. You can learn more about Google’s use of data and opt-out options at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Vercel Analytics: We use Vercel Web Analytics to measure site performance and usage. Learn more in Vercel’s privacy policy at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
5) How We Use Information
- Provide and maintain the Services;
- Protect the Services from fraud, abuse, and security threats;
- Respond to support requests;
- Improve performance and user experience.
6) How We Share Information
We may share information with:
- Service providers (e.g., hosting, security, and infrastructure providers) who process information on our behalf;
- Payment/checkout providers for donations (you interact directly with them through their checkout flow);
- Analytics or advertising partners (such as Google) if and when those tools are enabled;
- Vercel, which provides hosting and web analytics services for the Site;
- Legal and safety reasons if we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and security.
We do not sell personal information.
7) Data Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (for example, to comply with legal obligations or resolve disputes).
8) Your Privacy Rights (U.S.)
Privacy rights vary by state, and the U.S. does not have one single comprehensive federal privacy law. Many states provide rights such as access, deletion, correction, and opting out of certain processing, depending on applicability thresholds and definitions.
- Access: request information about the personal data we process.
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Deletion: request deletion of personal data, subject to legal exceptions.
- Opt-out: request to opt out of targeted advertising, sale or sharing, or profiling where applicable.
How to submit a request: Email support@contactyourrep.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We may ask you to verify your request (for example, by confirming access to your email address) before we respond.
California notice: If the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended) applies to our activities, it generally requires businesses to describe categories of personal information collected, purposes, and rights in a privacy notice. At this time, we aim to minimize collection and do not sell personal information.
Do Not Sell or Share: If a state law provides opt-out rights for “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, you can exercise those rights by emailing the address above with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share.”
9) Children’s Privacy
The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to us, contact support@contactyourrep.com.
10) Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
11) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
